On July 12 in Rome the Biol 2017 Prizes

International competition ceremony at Mipaf with Deputy Minister Olivero. On this occasion will be present the World Guide to organic extra virgin olive oil


It will be held on July 12 in Rome, at the Cavour Room of the Ministry of Food and Forestry Policies (via XX Settembre, 20, at 11.30), the awarding ceremony of the Prize Biol, the International Organic Competition organized by C.I.Bi and promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Bari and Region Puglia – Department of Agriculture. The end, therefore, of the kermesse that, in March for three days in Ostuni (Brindisi), was the international epicenter of the organic olive-growing movement, with 350 oils from 15 countries evaluated by the international jury (30 experts from various continents). Biol is not only a competition, but also technical moments, a section on innovations, tasting courses, workshops, tastings and itineraries.

To be rewarded will be the winners of this year: at the top the oil “Olivastro” of the company Quattrociocchi of Alatri (Frosinone), 2nd placed “Francibio” produced by Franci in Montenero d ‘Orcia (Grosseto); 3rd placed, the Andalusian biodynamic “Finca La Torre – Hojiblanca” (Spain).

The prize also to the winner of the BiolPack Prize (best-coupled label-packaging awarded by a specific jury of experts in communication and marketing), the total white bottle “Egregio” of the Spanish  judged “Pure, Simple, Effective”; the winner of the BiolKids (a project that with training courses and tasting laboratories involved in seven regions over 1,300 students from 27 primary schools), the Apulian “Picholine” of the company Adriatica Vivai, preferred by the baby panel that has joined senior jurors to award the prize; and for the many winners of the Biol Territory, excellence for Italian and foreign geographic areas (details on

On this occasion will be presented the latest edition of the Guide to the Best Organic Olive Oil in the World, including sensory profiles for the oils awarded with the Extragold Medals: a sum of the world’s organic olive crop, which will then be presented also at major international fairs, from the BioFach of Nuremberg to Sana in Bologna.

The Biol Prize is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Ifoam, Mediterranean Agribusiness, BiolItalia Association and Consorzio Puglia Natura.
