All the results of the XXII edition for the Best Organic Extra virgin olive oils , 350 olive oils in competition from 15 countries

Ostuni (Br) – The olive-growing excellence of Lazio, Tuscany and Spain are the winners of the XXII Biol Prize, an international competition for organic extra virgin. So at the top of the podium the “Olivastro” of the company Quattrociocchi of Alatri (Frosinone- Lazio); second placed, the “Francibio” produced by Franci in Montenero d’Orcia (Grosseto-Tuscany); Third placed, the Andalusian biodynamic “Finca La Torre – Hojblanca”-Spain.

One step away from the podium, in fourth place, the “Mimi Coratina” produced in Modugno (Bari) by Donato Conserva (which therefore also won the BiolPuglia). Among the 350 olive oils in competition, from 15 countries, there is also the winner of the Biolpack Award (best coupled-packaging label awarded by a jury of experts in specific communication and marketing) the Sevillian ” Egregio “- judged ” Pure, simple, effective “- with special mention to the bottle of the Apulian De Palma and the Greek Arbor Beato.

The announcement of the winners took place today in the City of BIOL in a spectacular setting formed by the children of the jury BiolKids: project with training courses and tasting workshops that involved in six regions ( Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata, Sardinia, Emilia Romagna and Liguria) over 1,800 children of fourth and fifth classes of 20 primary schools. And 60 of them formed the panel that has joined the senior judges to assign the BiolKids prize: the Apulian “Picholine” of Fasano produced by Prfumi di Castro of Adriatica Vivai (the complete list of all the awards will early online on www.premiobiol.it). To announce the winners, the mayor of Ostuni and president of Gal Alto Salento Gianfranco Coppola – “proud to have hosted an international event of this magnitude, which has been able to involve the younger generation through work with schools” – with ‘municipal councilor for productive activities Maristella Andriola, the director of the Coastal Dunes Park, Gianfranco Ciola, and the director of Gal Alto Salento, Carmelo Greco.

“Despite the bad olive oil campaign – said the coordinator of Biol Nino Paparella – we had over 350 members and a large number of new entries, a symptom of a growing recognition of the internationally award. Confirmed by the conference on the “Xylella and Biolinnova section “. On the results, the panel chief Alfredo Marasciulo comments: “We have had extraordinary oils, both in the Mediterranean (and in the Top ten also a Slovenian oil) both in Italy, proof that those who can cultivate also wins on the climatic adversities”. Extragold medals will be published in the traditional annual Guide Biol 2017, presented in the most important international fairs, the BioFach in Nuremberg and Sana in Bologna.

Thus closes the event organized by C.I.Bi. and promoted by the Chamber of Commerce of Bari, Puglia Region – Department of Agriculture – and the City of Ostuni, between tasting sessions of the International Jury (30 jurors from various continents) technical conferences, a section on innovations, tasting courses, workshops, and tours, for three days has made the White City international olive organic movement epicenter.
